Ads disclosure
This page explains how Counter Character is funded and how that does, and does not, affect what you see on counter-character.com. It applies to the whole site.
Who pays for counter-character.com
Advertising is how counter-character.com is funded: it pays for the server, the development of the character counter and the guides. Using the tool requires no payment and no sign-up. Advertising income does not depend on the results the character counter gives you, so we have no reason to steer them.
Ads from third-party networks
Ads on the site are served by third-party advertising networks. The networks decide which ads appear, usually automatically, based on the page and, where permitted, on your interests.
We do not pick individual ads, so an ad on a page is not an endorsement by Counter Character. Our Privacy Policy describes the cookies and data the networks use.
No paid reviews or endorsements
No one can pay us for a review, a recommendation or a favourable mention. When a guide mentions a product or a method, it is there because it is relevant, not because someone paid for it. Nor can anyone buy the removal of a fair criticism.
Labelling of sponsored content
Any link that someone paid us to include is clearly labelled as sponsored. They are tagged nofollow or rel=“sponsored” as well, so they pass no search ranking signal. Unlabelled links are editorial and are included only because they are relevant.
Your side of the arrangement
In exchange for free access you will see ads, which we try to keep out of the way of the tool itself. If you see an ad that seems misleading, offensive or inappropriate, send us the page address and a short description, and we will report it to the network concerned. An ad blocker will not stop the character counter from working.
How the guides are written
Advertisers have no say in the character counter, its formulas or the guides. The purpose of the guides is to help you use the character counter well, and that is the only thing that decides their content.
If we find a mistake, we correct it. If you spot one, let us know at [email protected].
